Manchmal probiere ich einfach eine Technik, neue Farben, ein Papier oder etwas anderes aus – ohne konkrete Pläne, daraus etwas zu machen. Und hin und wieder gefällt mir das, was beim Herumprobieren rauskommt, so gut, dass ich daraus eine Karte mache.
Sometimes I just play around and try new-to-me techniques, new colours, a paper or something like that – without a particular project in mind. From time to time, I like the outcome so much that I make a card with it.
So geschehen bei dieser schlichten Karte. Beim Stöbern im Künstlerfachgeschäft ums Eck ist mir Maskierflüssigkeit in die Hände gefallen und ich wollte ausprobieren, wie es sich damit arbeitet.
That’s what happend here. I came across masking fluid while browsing the art supplies store round the corner and I wanted to try it to see how it works.
How to
Ich habe ein Stück schweres Aquarellpapier mit ein paar Vögeln bestempelt. Dafür habe ich mein Stamp Tool und VersaFine Onyx Black benutzt.
I used my stamp tool and VersaFine Onyx Black to stamp some birds onto heavy-weight watercolour paper.
Mit dem Heat Tool habe ich die Trocknungszeit der Stempelabdrücke verkürzt.
I used my heat tool to speed up the drying process of the stamped images.
Die Maskierflüssigkeit habe ich mit einem feinen Pinsel aufgetragen.
I used a fine tip brush to apply the masking fluid.
Mit Malerkrepp habe ich das Papier auf meiner Unterlage befestigt.
I used masking tape to keep the paper in place on my mat.
Als nächstes habe ich das gesamte Papier mit Wasser bestrichen, weil ich nass-in-nass malen wollte.
Next, I covered the whole paper with water as I wanted to paint wet-in-wet.
Dann habe ich zügig ein paar Aquarellfarben aufgetragen – dabei habe ich mir nicht sonderlich Mühe gegeben, ich wollte ja nur testen, wie gut die Maskierflüssigkeit funktioniert.
Next, I quickly spread some watercolours over the paper. I didn’t really pay attention to what I was doing since I only wanted to test how well the masking fluid works.
Die getrocknete Maskierflüssigkeit (sie muss übrigens trocken sein, bevor man mit dem Malen beginnt) lässt sich ganz leich abrubbeln.
Once the masking fluid is dry (which it should be before you start applying colour by the way), you can easily rub it off.
Nachdem ich mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden war, habe ich beschlossen, aus dem Test eine Karte zu machen. Daher habe ich nach einem passenden Spruch gesucht, ihn gefunden und mit VersaFine Onyx Black und einem Acrylblock aufgestempelt.
As I liked the result, I decided to turn the test into a card. So, I searched my stash for a nice sentiment, found one and stamped it out with VersaFine.
Das Panel habe ich dann noch mit meinem Papiertrimmer beschnitten und auf eine Klappkarte geklebt.
I trimmed down the panel with my paper trimmer and adhered it onto a note card.
