Ich sehe jeden Tag viele schöne Karten: auf Instagram, in bestimmten Facebookgruppen, auf Blogs. Die Technik hinter dieser Karte von Debrah Warner fand ich besonders reizvoll – und musste sie daher ausprobieren: das Folieren von transparentem Kunststoff.

I see beautiful cards on a daily basis: on Instagram, in specific facebook groups, on blogs. I found the technique with which this card by Debrah Warner was done especially appealing, so I just had to give it a try: foiling acetate.

How to

Debrah hat für ihre Karte zu hitzeresistentem Kunststoff gegriffen und die Folie mit Hitze übertragen. Ich habe nur normale feste Kunststofffolien, darum habe ich statt mit Hitze mit Druck gearbeitet – möglich macht das das neue Transfer Gel Duo. Das alte Transfer Gel braucht Hitze, um zu funktionieren, das neue kann sowohl mit Hitze als auch mit Druck arbeiten.

Debrah used heat-resistant acetate and transfered the foil by using heat. As I don’t have any heat-resistant acetate, I worked with pressure instead of heat. Thanks to the new Transfer Gel Duo, this is an option. The old Transfer Gel needs heat in order to work, the new one works with pressure and with heat.

Ich habe eine Schablone auf ein Stück Kunststoff gelegt und hinten mit etwas Klebeband fixiert. Dann habe ich das Ganze auf meine MAKE ART Stay-tion gelegt, die ich mit einem Stück Schmierpapier geschützt habe, und mit Magneten fixiert. Mit einem Spachtel habe ich das Transfer Gel Duo gleichmäßig aufgetragen.

I laid a stencil on a piece of acetate and used some tape on the back to keep it in place. I worked on my MAKE ART Stay-tion (which I protected with a scrap paper) – the magnets hold the acetate and the stencil down. I used a palette knife to evenly spread the Transfer Gel Duo.

Kleinere Unfälle habe ich mit einem Wattestäbchen beseitigt.

I corrected little accidents with a cotton bud.

Nachdem das Gel getrocknet war, habe ich ein Stück Folie zurechtgeschnitten und vorsichtig aufgelegt.

After the gel was dry, I cut a piece of foil and laid it down gently.

Dann habe ich alles durch die Big Shot geschickt.

Next, I ran everything through my Big Shot.

Nach der Fahrt durch die Stanzmaschine war die Folie fest angedrückt. Ich musste sie nur noch abziehen.

After the ride through the die-cutting machine, the foil stuck firmly to the acetate. I just had to peel it off.

Um sie auf einer Klappkarte zu befestigen, habe ich einfach einige dreidimensionale Klebepads auf der Rückseite angebracht, gut versteckt unter den folierten Teilen.

Dann habe ich noch aus schwarzem Cardstock zweimal das Wort „Glückwunsch“ ausgestanzt, aufeinandergeklebt für etwas mehr Dimension und das Ganze dann auf der Karte angebracht (mit Flüssigkleber). Fertig!

To adhere the acetate on the note card, I used foam squares. I hid them under the foiled parts. Next, I die-cut the word „Congratulations“ from black cardstock twice, stacked it for more dimension, and glued everything onto the card. Done!
